Salamander Survey

 Explore the world of conservation by taking part in our salamander survey project, a biomonitoring survey designed to identify the types of salamanders on the VLM property. Learn how biodiversity sampling works, the importance of salamanders for forest floor ecology, and ways we can help conserve our slimy salamander friends, all under the guidance of our Herpetology and Education teams.

Students MUST be 12 years or older to participate. One adult may accompany each student, but must have valid museum admission and are participating in an observational capacity only. Student and adult museum admission NOT included.

Appropriate lab attire, including long pants, closed toe shoes, and weather appropriate clothing, is required. Due to lab activities, students must be capable of navigating off-path terrain and be capable of kneeling, bending, squatting, lifting objects 25lbs or less, as needed for lab activity work.
